The primary objectives are to predict future daily ticket sales, determine optimal hourly staffing requirements, and optimize counter allocation strategies for the metro system.
The study begins by utilizing historical daily ticket sales data to develop predictive models for future daily ticket sales. Leveraging these models and making certain assumptions, the project further extrapolates the daily data into hourly ticket sales projections. This step provides valuable insights into the expected passenger flow throughout the day.
Queuing theory, a mathematical approach to analyzing and optimizing waiting lines, is then employed to calculate the number of ticket counters required during both peak and non-peak hours. By considering factors such as customer arrival patterns, service times, and queue lengths, the study provides a comprehensive framework for optimizing staffing levels.
